FSU vs Notre Dame and a Couple of Donnybrooks Headline the Schedule

By Charles Jay

There is plenty of great action if you are looking to bet on college football betting this weekend, including at least one game where you’re going to have to take out the calculator to figure out the score before long.

Baylor Bears -7.5 vs West Virginia Mountaineers

We are, of course, talking about the game between the Baylor Bears and the West Virginia Mountaineers, which begins at Noon Eastern time and will be entertaining, to say the least, it is anything like last year’s encounter between these two, in which Baylor scored 56 points by halftime and rolled up the insane total of 872 yards in total offense on the way to a 73-42 victory.

We know that the mood is right because Baylor is coming off a miracle comeback against TCU, where it scored 24 points in the last five minutes. Bryce Petty, who threw six touchdown passes in that game, says he’s feeling pain-three for the first time since the season opener. West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett is also very capable (2203 passing yards), and he is in redemption mode after he completed just nine of 28 passes and last year’s encounter. Baylor is a 7.5-point favorite in the college football betting odds BetAnySports. and the total is 80 points, which seems, to say the least, very approachable.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish +10.0 vs Florida State Seminoles

The most significant game of the day will be taking place at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, where the Florida State Seminoles, who are second in both polls, play host to the Notre Dame fighting Irish. One of these two teams is very likely to be in the four-team college football playoff, but there is probably not room for both. Florida State is currently on a 22-game winning streak, but don’t seem to have played their best game just yet. Notre Dame has had close calls against Stanford and North Carolina recently, and it’s turned the ball over ten times in the last three games. Then there is all that controversy surrounding Heisman Trophy winner James Winston, who aside from his behavior on campus, a little shoplifting, and his sexual assault investigation, is now thought to have made money signing autographs. Seemingly distractions haven’t bothered Florida State. They are 10-point favorite at home in the latest college football betting odds at BetAnySports, but that is conditional; Winston must start for the this 8 PM ET kickoff to have action, and there is a tumultuous atmosphere surrounding him at the moment.

Texas A&M Aggies +14.0 vs Alabama Crimson Tide

The Alabama Crimson Tide, which was #1 in the coaches’ poll just two weeks ago but has had a very rough time of it since, plays host to the Texas A&M Aggies at 3:30 PM PT. Alabama loss to Ole Miss, then had a big scare in a 14-13 victory over Arkansas. In that game they only had ten first downs and 66 yards rushing. That is just not like Alabama. Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill has thrown five interceptions last two weeks, as his team has lost to Mississippi State, then Mississippi. Alabama is favored by 14 points in the latest odds at BetAnySports.

Kansas State Wildcats +7.0 vs Oklahoma Sooners

A very interesting Big 12 matchup pits the Oklahoma Sooners against the Kansas State Wildcats in a Noon ET start at Norman. Oklahoma followed its loss to TCU with a very mediocre offensive performance against Texas in the Red River Showdown, converting only one of its 11 third-down opportunities. Kansas State’s only loss has been to Auburn. Currently Oklahoma is a seven-point favorite in the college football betting odds, as determined by the people at BetAnySports.

Stanford Cardinal -3.5 vs Arizona State Sun Devils

In a 10:30 PM ET start, the Stanford Cardinal pay a visit to the Arizona State Sun Devils in a rematch of last year’s Pac-12 championship game. Stanford’s defense is the key to any success they have had, and last time out they did a good job limiting Connor Halliday of Washington State to just 292 yards passing. It appears to be a gametime decision as to whether Arizona State will start Taylor Kelly or Mike Bercovici at quarterback. With either of those guys, they shouldn’t be in bad shape. Stanford is favored by 3.5 points in the NCAA football odds and betting sports this week.
