Rams vs Buccaneers September 25th, 2016 Week 3 NFL Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Rams have a 1-1 record, but they have yet to score a touchdown. Sooner or later, that has to change, and maybe it will against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are reeling from last week’s shellacking at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals. Then again, perhaps the Bucs are going to be extra angry as they play host to the visiting Rams at 4:05 PM ET on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. VietBet customers will have an opportunity to watch this game live on Fox Network, and also to place wagers in real time through the facilities of Live Betting Extra, which adds a lot of thrills and chills to the sports betting experience.

Rams vs Buccaneers – CJ’s Take:

We knew that at some point Case Keenum, the journeyman who is minding the store at the quarterback position for the Rams, would give way to #1 overall draft pick Jared Goff, and though that time has not come quite yet, it might have to be a necessity if Los Angeles cannot generate more offense. Yes, they won a 9-3 decision over the Seattle Seahawks last week, but they only had three field goals in the game, and they took advantage of a dysfunctional Seattle offense, which featured an injured Russell Wilson at quarterback.

The Rams will travel more than any other team in the NFL this season, and this is part of it. Waiting for them are the Buccaneers, who had to endure four interceptions from Jameis Winston last week against Arizona.

By far, the most dependable offensive weapon Los Angeles has is running back Todd Gurley, although he has yet to really break out. Gurley is averaging just 2.7 yards per carry, but from his performance last season, we know that he has all the capability in the world to dominate again. But that might not come this week; Tampa Bay was one of the absolute best in the NFL last year against the run, allowing only 3.4 yards per carry, and that figure is even lower this season, so they are still very formidable along the defensive line, and Gurley will not find the yards easy to come by.

So the question becomes whether Keenum and the L.A. offense will be able to exploit a potentially leaky secondary. Kenny Britt brings no complaints, as the wide receiver has pulled in 10 passes for 161 yards, but as usual, other signs of explosiveness in the aerial attack are missing.

Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin was one of the great comeback stories in the NFL last season, as VietBet patrons are aware. But he has yet to get untracked thus far this season, and he has a hamstring problem, which might prevent him from playing. The good news for Tampa Bay is that Charles Sims is not a bad backup, so this team may not lose all whole lot if he has to fill in. But they also need is some consistency out of Winston, the former Heisman Trophy winner who threw four touchdown passes in the opening game on the road against Atlanta, then faltered in Phoenix, throwing four interceptions.

It should be noted that in each of their last 10 games, going back to last season, the Rams have been outgained by their opponent. You have to have a very stout defense to compensate for that, and while this team did a pretty good job last week, they are probably facing an offense that is in a little better condition this Sunday. That includes wide receiver Mike Evans, who had 157 yards against the Rams in last year’s meeting.
