The Volunteers bounced back against the Western Carolina Catamounts after dropping a tough 31-24 loss in overtime to Oklahoma the week before and beating Bowling Green 59-30 in their season opener. Tennessee blew a 17-0 lead against Oklahoma, which was the biggest lead they’ve ever given up in a home defeat. They didn’t have a problem with the Catamounts though by jumping out to a 41-3 advantage by halftime after outscoring their opponents 31-3 during the second quarter. It was the squad’s highest-scoring quarter since 2000 when the posted 35 points in the first quarter in a 63-20 victory over Arkansas.

The Volunteers have a tough task ahead of them this weekend and a win in Florida would be considered quite an upset. Tennessee’s offense has been quite effective as they’ve racked up 138 points so far this year. Running back Jalen Hurd has been a factor since he’s already run in five touchdowns and gained 300 yards on the ground. Things won’t be easy for him against Florida considering the Gators have conceded a lone rushing touchdown so far this season. Tennessee in 4-6 against the spread in their past 10 road outings and are 3-7 straight up.

The Florida Gators had to earn their win over the Wildcats last weekend with another solid effort. The victory gives them a current 29-game undefeated streak over Kentucky, which is the longest active streak against an opponent in the nation. The Gators’ defense played exceptionally well and they recorded a pair of interceptions to go along with half a dozen sacks. The Gators kept Wildcats’ quarterback Patrick Towles in check as he gained just 126 yards in the air by going 8 for 24 in passing. Florida also gave up just 115 yards on the ground. However, their offense didn’t really get on track as they outgained their opponents in total yards by 245-241.

Florida will be aiming to keep their perfect start going on Saturday and should be confident considering the way they’ve played against the Volunteers in the past. The Gators have won 10 in a row against Tennessee and have outscored them at a rate of about 2-1 during that span. Florida has been struggling slightly at home lately as they’re just 6-4 straight up in their past 10 home contests and are 4-6 against the spread. They should do enough to pull this one out though.
