Broncos vs Jets NFL Betting Preview

In the opinion of many football bettors, including those who place their wagers at BetAnySports, things couldn’t be any more messed up around the New York Jets right now than they already are. Coming off a shutout that really brought out some of the boo birds in the New York media, the Jets are in one of those situations where most observers are expecting that neither Rex Ryan nor quarterback Geno Smith will last beyond this season. There is no such instability around the Denver Broncos at the moment, as Peyton Manning (1293 yards) seems to be cruising light along. The Broncos visit the Jets in NFL betting action that will begin on Sunday at 1 PM ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

The Jets had a TOTAL of 64 passing yards against San Diego on Sunday, in the process of losing 31-0. Manning was a sharp contrast to that, throwing for 479 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. Denver knocked Arizona out of the ranks of the unbeaten with a 41-20 victory, and Manning went over 500 touchdown passes for his career.

At the moment everybody seems to be down on the Jets, while people are certainly pointing to the tremendous disparity between Manning and Smith. Is the number become too bloated? You can be the judge of that.

What came out in the press after the Jets’ defeat was pretty ugly. As it turns out, Smith had missed the team meeting the night before the game, and his story was that he was at the movies and apparently couldn’t figure out that there was a three-hour time difference upon the trip out west. Smith was not disciplined, in the respect that he was able to start again, but as he proved to be ineffective, he was replaced by backup Michael Vick, who only completed eight of the 19 passes he threw. It was just lousy all the way around.

And if that wasn’t enough to entertain BetAnySports patrons, a story has subsequently came out in which Vick says that he was woefully unprepared for the game against San Diego, because in his own words, he took the snaps with the scout team for granted and didn’t really pay attention to the game plan. In other words, assuming that the Jets were going to continue to use Smith, come hell or high water, he essentially bagged the game.

NFL bettors know what the challenges for the Jets are here. They must get enough pressure on Manning to make him hurry his passes. That’s because the secondary is so thin at the moment that they simply couldn’t afford to have hum standing back there with a lot of time. The thing is, Denver’s offensive line has protected him to the point where he’s only been sacked four times. And Demaryius Thomas got loose last week, as he had 226 yards receiving. The Jets don’t really have that “shutdown” cornerback who can take the other team’s best receiver away. What they DO have is a pretty good run defense, which has limited the opposition to 3.3 yards per carry. With Montee Ball probably out of this game, the Broncos become more one-dimensional, but does that really matter against a squad that is coming apart at the seams?
