49ers vs Seahawks September 25th, 2016 Week 3 NFL Betting Preview

Well, the San Francisco 49ers, who had such a dominant performance in the first week of the season against the Los Angeles Rams, showed some heart by battling back on the road against the Carolina Panthers last week, but their defense did not cooperate. Now they have to regroup in order to go back on the road into one of the more difficult venues in the National Football League. Chip Kelly’s team will travel to the Pacific Northwest to face the Seattle Seahawks in a game that will begin at 4:05 PM ET on Sunday at CenturyLink Field. Customers who have an account at BetAnySports will have the opportunity to get reduced juice before the game begins, and then to wager on the action in real time by using the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.

49ers vs Seahawks – CJ’s Take:

When you talk about highs and lows in the NFL, well, San Francisco went from pitching a shutout in the first week to giving up 46 points in the second. But they managed to score 17 points in the fourth quarter to at least make a game of it against the defending NFC champions. And they will be going up against a team that has scored only one offensive touchdown in the first two games. Something is wrong in Seattle, and there are a few things that have contributed to it. One is that the offensive line is going through transition, and another is that Russell Wilson is playing through an injured ankle. He doesn’t have quite the mobility he usually does, and in these first two games he’s only rushed nine times for a total of 30 yards.

With Kelly, San Francisco has a different offensive look, going with a no-huddle offense, and they demonstrated some success in picking up the tempo last week in Charlotte. Let’s see if they are able to do that again.

Blaine Gabbert won the starting quarterback job over Collin Kaepernick in the pre-season, and the jury is still out on him. He didn’t have to do very much for San Francisco to defeat an offensively inept Los Angeles team in the opener (28-0), and he was 17 out of 36 with two interceptions against the Panthers last week. Carlos Hyde, who has averaged 3.3 yards per carry, has to be more of a factor this week.

Christine Michael has provided the ground game for Seattle in these first two games (126 yards) and Thomas Rawls has not gotten untracked. That is significant, since he ran for 209 yards in a game against the 49ers last season. But he was removed from last week’s game with an injury.

BetAnySports patrons probably know that this game matches up coaches who were rivals in the Pac 12. Pete Carroll was, of course, the coach at USC, while Kelly molded the Oregon Ducks into an offensive powerhouse. When Kelly was coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle handled the no-huddle spread offense pretty well two seasons ago. Matt Sanchez was the quarterback for Philadelphia then, and he is roughly comparable to Gabbert.

Seattle is notorious for getting off to a slow start, but here is what is interesting – in each of the last six seasons, Seattle has covered the third game of the season. They have also dominated the Niners from a pointspread standpoint, going 9-0-1 ATS over the last 10 encounters. Also, six of the last seven meetings in this series have gone under the total.
